Vitamin D – also known as the sunshine vitamin – is the subject of our latest Systems of Life series on vitamins and minerals. These fascinating articles, written by nurses from Swansea University, have already looked in detail at vitamins A, B and C, all of which you can find on the Nursing Times website. Elsewhere in this issue, we look at how to assess frailty in older people and at the nursing associate role, the latter very much a topic of discussion right now. Meanwhile, we have spoken to mental health nurses about the impact on staff of a patient suicide and to nurses from faith-based groups, which are on the rise. While religion can be a point of conjecture in nursing involving the regulator, these faith-based groups are certainly putting the health of their communities first.
