The August issue of Nursing Times is our third annual edition to be dedicated to the environment. It focuses on how the NHS is doing on achieving net-zero and improving on sustainability. Senior nurses at NHS Supply Chain, have told us that, while the scale of the challenge may seem daunting, every little helps and explain what nursing staff on the ground can do to make a difference themselves on sustainability. We have also spoken to deputy chief nursing officer for England Charlotte McArdle about latest developments at policy level. Linked to this ambition, we have articles that discuss how nurses can potentially reduce the environmental impact of wound management, and embedding sustainability into nursing and midwifery university education. Queen's Nurses have also told us about the sustainability plan they have put together and the challenges of going green in community settings.
